Welcome to our ICT Group newsletter in which we inform you about recent developments in our markets and update you on our projects and events. Almost any project that involves remote sensor reading is labelled as ‘Industry 4.0’. Yet there are only a few companies which fully realise that the real issue is linking Operational Technology (OT) to IT and enriching both environments with data. Would you like to know more about this topic? Please read this article in our recent corporate magazine. Kind regards, Roel de Backer Director Industrial Automation Division
ICT Group develops Central Operating System as basis for remote monitoring and control of assets A city has a lot of installations. Many cities are looking for ways to manage and control these assets intelligently, in order to reduce energy consumption and increase uptime. The city of Utrecht is using the Central Operating System for sewer installations, developed by ICT Group, as a blueprint for the remote control of lighting, market boxes, shore power boxes and other 'assets with a plug' in order to realize the smart city ambitions.
Industry 4.0 combines and connects digital and physical technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, additive manufacturing, robotics, and cloud computing to make companies more agile, responsive and interconnected. But to what extent are Dutch companies investing in Industry 4.0? Is the Dutch Industry ready for IT & OT collaboration and in which phase are we? To what extent are Dutch organizations already working in a data-driven way and how do they see themselves developing in it? To gain insight into these issues, ICT Group conducted an exploratory benchmark study. Are you interested in the results? Our Sales Director Mark van Lanen will be happy to send you the report.
ICT Group connects WMS to robots and conveyor system A.S. Watson, parent company of Kruidvat and Trekpleister, among others, recently doubled the capacity of the e-commerce DC in Ede by not only expanding the floor space with mezzanine floors, but also by extensive mechanization and automation of processes. This is done, among other things, by deploying robots on wheels. The Warehouse Management System (WMS) also had to undergo a major rebuild due to these major changes. “We rebuilt with the store open. And because of corona, that store was busier than ever,” says a proud Aad Ramondt, Manager of Supply Chain Development at A.S. Watson. He looks back on a successful project.
Challenge accepted! Raster, an ICT Group company, has been working on an upgrade for project Schelde that will automate the launching of ships. The existing system is used for this, which means that the building must be modular, generic and flexible. Raster accepted the challenge.
